For the 30th anniversay: The new BMW M4 GTS
Given BMW M3’s 30th anniversary, BMW has just unveiled the new BMW M4 GTS which is a special edition limited to only 700 models. Even though the 500 hp strong BMW M4 GTS has its sights set on the race track, it is equally suitable for everyday use. Under the hood there is a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line turbo engine known from the BMW M3/M4, whose engine output gets cleary increased using innovative water injection technology. The only thing BMW seems to have saved up on is weight. Every detail has been honed to minimise weight – on the interior as well as the exterior: i.e. carbon-fibre bucket seats, a lightweight centre console, a special lightweight door and side panel trim, adjustable front splitter constructed from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic.
“The standard-fitted seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) selects the optimum ratio for every driving situation with no interruption in the flow of power as it makes its way to the rear wheels. […] This makes the BMW M4 GTS the most agile, radical and dynamically potent model in the range. It races from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 3.8 seconds and hits a limited top speed of 305 km/h (189.5 mph).” [Press Release]
