Fastest Production Car in the World: Tesla P100D

    29. August 2016

With a range of 613km and an insane acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds the Tesla P100D is now the fastest production car in the world.

That’s at least Tesla’s plan. The recently announced 100 kwH battery upgrade provides greater endurance and lets the Model S with Ludicrous sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds. That’s just a tad slower than the limited and sold out hypercars La Ferrari and Porsche 918 Spyder.

According to the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) the 100 kWh battery also increases the Model S’ range significantly up to 613 km. Making it the first to go beyond 480 km and the longest range production electric vehicle by far.

But not only the Model S benefits from the upgrade. The performance of the Model X will also be increased. Featuring a range of 542 km in total, its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds makes it the fastest production SUV in the world, too.

    Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous for €152,500

Customers who have ordered a Model S or X P90D Ludicrous but have not received it yet, can upgrade to the larger battery pack for a mere $10.000 USD. Existing owners of a P90D will have to pay $20.000 USD for the upgrade as their used 90 kWh pack will have to be recycled. The basic Model S P100D Ludicrous costs about €152.400.
