Because of the importance of the American market to its brand and this car in particular, Mercedes Benz chose the North American International Auto Show in Detroit for its debut. The new S600 model represents the “essence of luxury,” says Ola Kaellenius, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mercedes.
In addition to the 523 hp, V12 biturbo engine, the S600 features MB’s “Magic Body Control” suspension with road surface scan that continually adjusts the suspension based on road conditions. Another innovation available on this big Benz is the Collision Prevention Assist Plus which includes an adaptive braking system. Additionally if the driver does not take action quickly enough, the system can brake autonomously at speeds of up to 120+ mph.
